What we do

Our funding priorities

The Foundation has four funding priorities to ensure patients receive excellence in eye care.

Equal access to care

Gifts to the Foundation are helping to improve vision outcomes for those living in regional and remote areas of Australia, in particular Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are three times more likely to be blind or have low vision, and can wait 63% longer for cataract surgery.

Research

With thanks to the community, the Foundation funds translational research so patients can benefit from innovation sooner. This bench to bedside focus enables the hospital to continually improve diagnosis, treatment and procedures that directly help thousands of patients who rely on specialist expertise each year.

Technology and equipment

With 90% of vision loss treatable when diagnosed early, fast and accurate diagnoses along with precision treatment regimens are imperative. Donations to the Foundation are providing Sydney Eye Hospital with leading-edge technology and equipment to ensure patients receive excellence in care and optimal outcomes.

Training and professional programs

Sydney Eye Hospital is the major training centre for ophthalmologists in Australia. Donors stand with the Foundation proudly supporting a legacy of education. Together we are future proofing excellence in eye care through specialist nursing scholarships and Fellowships to talented ophthalmologists from around the world.
