A/Prof. Alex Paul Hunyor
Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation Board Member
Associate Professor Alex Hunyor is a retinal specialist who has been on the staff of Sydney Eye Hospital since 2001 and a Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation Board member since 2011. Alex has been very involved with teaching of ophthalmology registrars and the Foundation-funded vitreoretinal fellows, as well as nurses, orthoptists, and medical students. He has received the RANZCO Award for Excellence in Training on 5 occasions. He is also involved in teaching overseas specialists through the RANZCO International Development Programme.
Alex is a Clinical Associate Professor and member of the Macular Research Group at the Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney. He is involved in numerous clinical trials for treatment of retinal diseases. Alex is the Chair of the Medical Committee of the Macular Disease Foundation Australia, and serves on the RANZCO Medicare Advisory Committee. He has given many lectures at local and international scientific meetings, has numerous peer-reviewed publications, and serves as a reviewer for several ophthalmic journals as well as the Medical Journal of Australia.
