As a sports commentator, Andrew’s eyes are his career. But just like the 140,000 + patients we treat in Sydney Eye Hospital every year, he feared for his future. This is his story.
Proud to be associated with the recent launch of The Eye Donor App, an initiative of Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation, University of Wollongong, NSW Health and DonateLife.
Each year the lives of thousands of Australians are transformed through the transplantation of the cornea from donated eyes. With demand increasing, we’re proud to support Amy Chumkasian, registered nurse at Sydney Eye Hospital and PhD candidate in launching the Eye Donor app, now available from Apple and Google Play stores, free of charge.
Interestingly, even people who wear glasses, have had past surgery, or suffer from some eye diseases can still donate.
Please download the app and see if you can become an eye donor.
